HEIST, Marcia M. Of Brookline, MA, passed away peacefully, at home, and surrounded by family, on New Year's Day. Loving wife of 35 years to Robert ("Rob") and mother of David, of Weymouth. Marcia was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Priscilla Madden of Wellesley, and sister Marilyn of Waltham. Also survived by many numerous family cousins.
Marcia was active in the Brookline community, serving as a Town Meeting Member, PTO President, and member of the Brookline School Committee (which she chaired for two terms). An active member of The United Parish of Brookline, Marcia served the church in a number of positions, including membership on two search committees, and chair of the education and pastor-parish relations committees.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Thursday, Jan. 12 from 4-8pm. Funeral service in the United Parish, 210 Harvard St., Brookline, Saturday, Jan. 14 at 3pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marcia's memory be sent to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
