Age 95 of Mission Hill, formerly of Charlestown, December 23, 2016. Retired from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Symphony Hall. Loving mother of James and his wife Susan of West Roxbury, Patricia (Carroll) Utterson and the late John Utterson of Canton, and Kathleen (Carroll) Brinkert of Billerica and the late Theodore B. Brinkert. Beloved Grandmother of the late Sean M. Carroll, Joslin (Carroll) Reed and her husband Adam of Providence, RI, Theodore M. Brinkert of Hyde Park and Daniel J. Brinkert of Hyde Park. Mary is also survived by her nephew Robert Malamphy of Roslindale, and nieces Cynthia Webster and her husband Carl of Hudson, NH, and Carol Grassa and husband Nick of Revere. Mary was predeceased by her five sisters, Catherine, Mildred, Gertrude, Eleanor and Theresa, and her five brothers, John, William, Thomas, Edward, and Francis, as well as her nephew James Malamphy and nieces Catherine Malamphy and Julie (Malamphy) Daly. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with family on Wednesday Dec. 28th 4-8 pm at the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St, West Roxbury. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday Dec. 29th at Mission Church, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Epilepsy Foundation New England, 335 Main Street, Wilmington, MA 01887.
