Obituary

Pfeifer, Donald James of Natick and formerly of Newton, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 after a brief illness at Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham with his wife Virginia (Taccone) Pfeifer at his side. They shared 56 years of marriage together.

Born and raised in Newton, Donald was the son of the late Albert B. and Margaret (MacDonald) Pfeifer. In 1951, he entered into the Air Force and served at Camp Gordon, GA for basic training, and then was assigned to Albrook AFB in the Panama Canal Zone where he served his country, of which he was so proud. Upon his return from the Air Force, he returned to his former work at Sherman Paper Products in Needham, MA. The company had a bowling league and this is where Donald and Virginia met. A few years later he entered the plumbing & heating field where he became a Master Plumber. He dedicated many years of service with Goldberg Plumbing and Heating, working hard to help the company grow and ultimately became the owner of Goldberg.

Along with countless hours dedicated to the business, Mr. Pfeifer spent a great deal of time bowling and playing cards. He undoubtedly had a strong passion for golf and enjoyed nothing more than to sit and watch an old western after a long day’s work. What truly gave him pleasure was time spent with his wife and daughters, and brothers Albert and Edward.

In addition to his wife Virginia, he is survived by his daughters Cheryl Pfeifer of New York and Cynthia Gibson of Georgia; grandchildren, Ashley Thompson, Danielle Pfeifer-Dennison, Jeremy Gibson, and Angela Gibson; siblings, brother’s John Pfeifer, and Edward Pfeifer and sister, Mary Pellegrini, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Charlene Quilty, two infant daughters Mary and Lisa Pfeifer, his brothers Albert and Richard Pfeifer, and sister’s Alice McKinney and Margaret Pfeifer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Thursday, December 29th at 12 O’clock Noon in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common.

Visiting hours will begin at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a veterans organization of your choice.
