CONGDON, Ruth of Roslindale, December 9, 2016. Beloved daughter of the late Elizabeth Risley of Norwich CT, beloved friend and colleague to many. Ruth graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1954 and embarked on a long and illustrious career as a health care administrator. Ruth worked for several years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Providence and spent 23 years as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Newborn Medicine at Floating Hospital for Children until her retirement in 2010. A devout Christian, Ruth was a member of the Beacon House Baptist Church and for many years was a vibrant participant at the Word of Life Camp in Schroon Lake, NY where she mentored many young people. Ruth will be fondly remembered for her work ethic, her fierce independence, her signature wit, and her uncanny ability to make friends wherever she went, whatever the circumstances. Visitation will be held at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Thursday, December 15th from 2:30-4:30pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment private.
