Eileen M. Duffey
11/9/2016

Eileen M Duffey, daughter of the late Margaret and Jack McCabe was born March 23, 1953 in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended Boston Public Schools and was a graduate of Roslindale High School class of 1971. After graduating from Roslindale High School, she attended and graduated from the Boston Business School, which allowed her to pursue a career as an administrative assistant at Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC.

Eileen married Stephen C Duffey of Concord, Massachusetts on November 12, 1983. In January 1987, Eileen and Stephen welcomed their only daughter, Caitlin Elizabeth (Duffey) Sawka into the world. The family resided in Franklin, Massachusetts for over 20 years. Eileen’s greatest joy in her life was to spend time with her husband and daughter, and she thoroughly enjoyed traveling around New England and watching Caitlin compete in figure skating competitions. In August of 2013, Eileen celebrated the marriage of her daughter to Ethan M Sawka, whom is also from Franklin, Massachusetts.

Eileen was a very selfless and loving wife, mother, and friend. When Caitlin worked for Syracuse City School District, Eileen would send boxes of school supplies as well as Christmas and graduation gifts each year for all of the fourth grade students in Caitlin’s classroom. She always thought of others before herself.

Shortly after the birth of her daughter, at the age of 33, Eileen was diagnosed with Inclusion-Body Myositis, a difficult disease, which she fiercely battled for 30 years.

Eileen is survived by her husband, Stephen C Duffey of Bellingham, her daughter, Caitlin, and her husband, Ethan Sawka of Framingham, her sisters, Barbara McCabe of Framingham and Mary Foley of Hyde Park, her brother, Thomas McCabe and his wife, Claire of Farmington, CT. She is preceded in death by her sister, Noreen McCabe. She is also survived by many loved nephews and nieces.
