McAULIFFE, Mary Ellen (Mai Dalton), 87, of West Roxbury MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday October 19, 2016. Mary was born in Ahabeg, Co. Kerry, Ireland on December 22, 1928. She immigrated to the United States in 1947 where she met her husband and raised a family. Mary was married to Denis McAuliffe on September 3, 1950; they were married 25 years. Mary worked as a Nurses Aid for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and friends, and sipping hot tea while spending time with her beloved cat, Princess. Mary is survived by her grandchildren Dennis Salfity, his wife Libby and their son Tyler of Quincy, TJ, and Cassandra Mayo and her husband Michael of Weymouth; her daughters Margaret Hegenberger of Quincy, Hanna Gallagher and her husband Charles of Weymouth, Elizabeth McAuliffe and her wife Vicky Serafin of West Roxbury, and Mary Muse of West Roxbury. She is also survived by other family members and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Denis McAuliffe. The family of Mary Ellen McAuliffe wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Faulkner Hospital. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24th at St. Theresa Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23rd at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury. Mary was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all.
