Orvil "Mr. Doke" Dickey, age 92, died Saturday morning, October 15, 2016 at the Mississippi Veteran's Home in Oxford, MS, with his family by his side. Born in Calhoun county in 1924, Mr. Doke was a son of the late Johnny and Mattie Potts Dickey. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army, and worked many years at Big Yank in Water Valley. Mr. Doke enjoyed gardening and was well known for helping people. He loved his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Liberty Church.

Services are planned for 1 pm Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 am until service time on Tuesday. The burial will follow the service at Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County with Jeremy Dickey, Corey Dickey, Jason Sharp, Jonathan Sharp, Carson Sharp, Collin Sharp, and Matt May serving as pallbearers. Ransom Bell, Shadduck Bell, Cole Camp, Hartley Camp, Jack Culvertson, Jake Dickey, Andrew Farmer, and Zack Martin will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Doke was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Syble Sutherland Dickey; one brother, Talmadge Dickey; and two sisters, U. V. Morgan and Birdie Morris.

He is survived by one daughter, Janice Sharp (Charles) of Water Valley, MS; two sons, Grady L. Dickey (Jeanette) of Southlake, TX and Steve Dickey of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Flauline Malone of West Memphis, AR and Nilda South of Southaven, MS; seven grandchildren and sixteen grandchildren.
