MURRAY, Mary K. (Maloney) Age 97, of Brighton, MA entered into her final resting on September 24, 2016. Born in July 1919 in Corristoona, Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, she was one of 8 siblings born to Bridget (Farrell) and Thomas Maloney. In the late ‘30’s Mary and her sisters moved to London, England to work and help support the family farm back in Corristoona. She met her husband, Patrick (Paddy) Murray and they married in 1941. As part of the war effort during WWII Mary worked in a hidden factory outside London where she worked as a seamstress making body bags to bring home the soldiers who had died back to the UK or Ireland. They moved back to Dublin, Ireland in the early 1950’s with their daughter and later in 1957, they immigrated to Boston, MA where they resided in Brighton. Mary resided there in her home enjoying her gardening and chatting with her neighbors on her front porch until August 2015. She loved listening to Irish music every day and attending the dances at the Irish Social Club and; attending St. Patrick’s Day celebrations there being one of her favorites. Mary is survived by her daughter, Maureen Halmos (late husband Imre) of Hopkinton, MA; her cherished grandson Christopher Halmos and his wife Sara of Ipswich, MA; her remaining sibling, Thomas Maloney of Limerick, Ireland; her sister-in-law, Josie Maloney of Roscommon Town; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews in Ireland, England, New York, Massachusetts and Washington. She was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret, Bridie, Lizzie, Frank, Pat and Michael. Service will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygar, Co. Galway, Ireland on October 8, 2016.
