Domingas L. (Lopes) Brito, 95, of New Bedford died September 24, 2016 peacefully at Brandon Woods of New Bedford.
She was the wife of the late Domingos S. Brito.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Manuel and Arcenia (Pires) Lopes, she lived in New Bedford since 1966.
Mrs. Brito was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was a talented seamstress for many years.
Mrs. Brito was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include 2 sons, Manuel DeBrito of New Bedford and Jose Brito of Sacramento, CA; 3 daughters, Maria DaCosta and Eugenia Mendes, both of New Bedford and Cinne Barrett of Sacramento, CA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late John DeBrito, and sister of the late Jose Lopes, Eugenia Lopes, Joao DaSilva and Maria Lopes.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, September 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
