Dennis "Mike" Leaver, 69, of New Bedford died September 25, 2016 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Donna L. (Fleming) Leaver.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Thomas and Mary Jane (Marshall) Leaver, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Leaver was formerly employed by Johnson & Johnson and Symmetry until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Mr. Leaver was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Tuttle Post 7239.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and the company of his dog "Bear."
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Christopher Leaver and his wife Colleen of Delano, MN and Justin Leaver of New Bedford; a daughter, Ashley Leaver of Acushnet; a sister, Marilyn Healy of Fairhaven; 3 grandchildren, Gavin, Aiden and Nolan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Thomas Leaver, Jr.
His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 28th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
