Obituary

Raymond J. Murphy of New Bedford MA, passed away quietly in his sleep on Saturday, September 3, 2016.
He was predeceased by his parents Theodore G Murphy and Rose (Flanagan) Murphy both of New Bedford. He was also predeceased by his brother Theodore Gerald (Gerry) Murphy his sister Marie (Murphy) Bean and his son Raymond J Murphy Jr.
Ray had a fulfilling life and was an avid patriot, fulfilling his military commitment and very proud of his rank as Sargent during the Korean War. Ray loved telling his children about his time in the military. He was very proud of the time he spent serving his country.
Most of his professional life he spent working for the National Biscuit Company ( NABISCO). He held many positions there as Vice President for over 30 years. After leaving NABISCO, Ray started his own company known as Murphy Fine Foods.
Upon his retirement, Ray pursued his love of golf and boating, but his greatest joy were his four children and grand children.
Ray was a true believer in his Catholic faith and followed it faithfully.
Ray is survived by his three daughters: Doriann Murphy Jasinski, her husband Larry and their three children Joshua, Christopher and Jenna all of Southborough, MA; Lynne Alice Murphy of Killingworth, CT ; Kathy Murphy Chrzanowski, her Husband Michael and their children Teagan and Maxwell of Killingworth, CT and Mike Chrzanowski of Colorado and Amy Grew of New York. He is also survived by his former wife Ann Fulhan Murphy (47 years) of New Bedford. Ray also has two grandsons from his deceased son Raymond: Raymond J Murphy lll of Albuerqueque, New Mexico and Jamieson Murphy of Vermont and one great granddaughter Maya Chrzanowski of Colorado.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary's Church, 789 Dartmouth Street, South Dartmouth, MA. A Military burial will immediately follow at the Bourne National Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Raymond's name can be made to Warrior Thunder Foundation, Inc.
