Clarence Lloyd Brooks, Jr. of Pembroke Pines, FL died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the age of 65. He was the husband of his beloved Justa Mary (Gomes) Brooks.
Born May 20, 1951 in New York, New York and raised in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Clarence L. Brooks, Sr. and Kathleen Elna Brooks. He was one of five siblings including: Antoinette McDowell, Donald A. Johnson and his wife Karen, the late Errol C. Brooks and his wife Sylvia, and Kelvin L. Brooks and his wife Cheryl.
Clarence Brooks was a long tenured and well respected football coach, beginning at the high school level for 3 years, then college level for 17 years, and finally in the NFL for 24 years. Clarence spent the last 12 seasons coaching the defensive line of the Baltimore Ravens.
He is survived by his wife, his siblings, and his two children Jason Brooks and his wife Sandy and Adrienne Lundquist and her husband Larry as well as his two cherished grandchildren Aviana and Avery Brooks and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the Union Baptist Church, 109 Court St., New Bedford, MA. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, September 27th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, MA.
