Marion C. (Mingo) Mattos, age 78, of Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly of Norton and Attleboro passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills. She was the beloved wife of Donald Mattos, to whom she was wed for the past 56 years.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 10, 1938, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Lillian (Scott) Mingo.
Marion grew up in Norton and was a 1956 graduate of Norton High School. She was a retired assembler having worked at the WRE Richards Co. in Attleboro and loved being a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family. She had also been previously employed at Texas Instruments and L.G. Balfour in Attleboro.
Marion had made her home in Florida for the past seventeen years and enjoyed camping, playing bingo, traveling and cruises.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted and loving children Gary J. Mattos and his wife Laurie of Norton, Shelley J. Alward of Seekonk and Glenn J. Mattos of Norton. She was the dear sister of Claudia Mingo of Attleboro and was pre-deceased by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Tiffany, Alicia, Jonathon and Nicholas, and her great grandchildren Janessa, Malakai and Mia.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton on Thursday, September 22nd at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton, on Wednesday, September 21st rom 4:00-7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flower’s, Marion’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Norton VFW Post 8049, 38 Summer St., Norton, MA 02766.
