Obituary

FALMOUTH, MA / SEMINOLE, FL – Joyce L. (Prentiss) McManus, 77, of Falmouth and Seminole, FL, formerly of West Boylston, died Monday, September 12, 2016 at Falmouth Hospital.

She leaves her husband of 17 years, William J. McManus, a son, Michael Gallant and his wife Cheryl of Worcester, three daughters, Deborah Potvin and her husband Steven of Jefferson, Donna Beaulac and her husband Barry of West Boylston and Anne Gallant of Worcester, four grandchildren, Michael, Derek and his wife Emily, Erin and her wife Liz and Quinn and three great grandchildren, Lilly, Raymond and Madilyn. She also leaves four brothers, John Prentiss and Charles Prentiss, both of Hubbardston, Bradford Rice of San Francisco, CA and Douglas Rice of Moody Beach, ME, a sister, Jean George of Maryland and several nephews and nieces. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Nicholas J. Cerce in 1993 and her sister Janet Cummings.

Joyce will also be missed by her stepchildren, Devin and his wife Anandi of Falmouth, MA, Daniel and his wife, Patricia of Reston, VA, Dennis and his wife Tracy of West Boylston, Kathleen and her husband David Despotopulos of Worcester and William, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC and their children: Elena, Cara, Sabrina, Sophia, Shauna, Nicole, Julia, Kaitlin, Leah, Savannah, Amelia, Alec, Matthew and Rory.

She was born in Gardner, daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Bates) Prentiss and attended David Hale Fanning Trade School. Joyce was an active participant at fundraisers for the Why Me organization. She enjoyed bowling in her earlier years and was an avid golfer. Joyce also enjoyed her craft projects, quilting, reading and gardening. For years, Joyce and Bill spent happy winters in Seminole, FL with their many friends, enjoying good times, golf, and adventuresome travels.

Visiting hours will be held from 9:00 until 10:30 AM on Friday, September 16 at FAY BROTHERS Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
