Pramod B. Chemburkar, age 84, of North Easton, formerly of Princeton, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Medical center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Mrunalini P. (Bhatte) Chemburkar, to whom he was wed for the past 54 years.

Born in Mumbai, India on September 3, 1932, he was a loving son of the late Bhaurao and Indira (Pathare) Chemburkar.

Pramod grew up and was educated in India, where he received his Masters Degree in Chemistry. He later moved to the United States, where he first settled in Florida and received his PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Florida.

Mr. Chemburkar was the retired Director of Pharmaceutical Research and Development at Berlex Laboratories in New Jersey. He had previously been employed at other pharmaceutical companies which included G.D. Searle in Chicago, Wyeth in Philadelphia and at Rorer Pharmaceutical, also in Philadelphia. Following retirement he continued working as a pharmaceutical consultant for several years.

Pramod was a member of Marathi Vishwa, where he was instrumental in building the new community center and served as its past president.

For the past three months, Pramod had made his home at the Residence at Five Corners in North Easton and had previously resided in Princeton, New Jersey. He enjoyed golf, tennis, cross country skiing, acting, playing bridge and chess, traveling and most of all, spending time with his adoring family.

In addition to his wife Mrunalini, he is survived by his devoted sons Yogen P. Chemburkar and his wife Terri of Mansfield and Dipen P. Chemburkar of Cambridge. He was the cherished grandfather of Meg, Jonathan and Hannah Chemburkar. He is also survived by three sisters, Kumud, Suhas and Vina and three brothers Sneedhar, Atul and Prakash in India and was predeceased by one brother, Arun.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a traditional Hindu ceremony on Monday, September12th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Cremation will follow at the North Purchase Crematory in Attleboro.

Visitation will be held on Monday morning, prior to the services beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
