Elizabeth K. “Betty” (Hayes) Carmody, 75, died Tuesday morning, September 6, 2016, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, after a brief illness. Her husband of 52 years, William H. Carmody, died September 11, 2011.
She leaves 5 children, Katherine F. Neslusan and her husband Francis, Joseph E. Carmody and his wife Maureen, Patricia A. Vescera and her husband David, Theresa M. Costa and her husband Edward, Elizabeth M. Matson and her husband Brian; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kara, Kimberly, Christina, Katie, Nicole, Matthew, Rebecca, David, Allison, Timothy, Emily; and 5 great grandchildren, Kaylynn, Paisley, Jacob, William, Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews including Michael and June Eressy, William and Denise Eressy, Timothy Eressy and his fiancée, Sandra Mason; 4 brothers-in-law, Rev. James F. Carmody, Paul J, Cornelius J., And Arthur R. Carmody; 2 sisters-in-law, Catherine M. Lenderman, and Mary Elizabeth Carmody. Her sister, Irene Gravini and a nephew, Kevin Eressy, both predeceased her.
She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late George W. and Irene F. (Halpin) Hayes, graduated from Commerce High School and was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 8 P.M. on THURSDAY, SEPT. 8 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on FRIDAY, SEPT. 9 in IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 353 Grove Street.
