Janet Schindelwig, 85
It is with profound sadness that the Schindelwig family announce the death of their matriarch, Janet on August 14, 2016.
Smiling until her last breath, Janet drifted away surrounded by family and loved ones who traveled from near and far to say their goodbyes.
Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on May 16, 1931 to James and Mary Blanche Richmond (nee Foucault), Janet (Peenie) enjoyed a life on the farm surrounded by her six older siblings where her diminutive size didn’t stop her from breaking horses and rough-housing with the boys. Her marriage in 1955 to Harold eventually gifted her with eight children within ten years.
Janet is survived by her sister Agnes of Norton, Massachusetts, her five sons: Harold, James, David, Gregory, and John; and her three daughters: Barbara, Linda, and Diana. In her 85 years she traveled to Colorado, Georgia, Wisconsin, and all over Southeastern Massachusetts to help raise her fourteen grandchildren and eventually moved to New Hampshire where her twelve great-grandchildren would often visit.
Crossword puzzle aficionado and life-long John Wayne fan, Janet prided herself on many things, including the family she created, her ability to find and share joy, and her prized split-pea soup recipe. She leaves us all with memories of a gentle woman with a lot of love to give who could be stern when required, often delivering the line, “Can’t means you don’t want to” to exasperated children.
Janet: My love for you is immeasurable, my respect for you immense. You're ageless, timeless, lace and fineness, you're beauty and elegance. – Rod Stewart
