BARDEN, Ann M. (Furden) of West Roxbury, on August 15, 2016 after a courageous 8 year battle with lymphoma. Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years and caretaker, Philip V. Barden. Loving mother to Philip Barden III (Maureen), Theresa Barden, Michael Barden (Jacki) and Katherine Shannon (Adam). Adoring Nana to Philip Barden IV, Leslie, Emily, Karen and Jack Barden and Grace, Michael and Annie Shannon. Loving sister to Daniel Furden, Margaret Curran and her husband Richard, Eugene Furden and the late John R. Furden Jr. Ann was the daughter of the late John R. Furden Sr. and Margaret (Morrissey). Caring aunt to Richard Curran Jr., Cathleen Yessayan and several other nieces and nephews.
Ann was a graduate of Our Lady Help of Christians High School, Newton and Boston State Teacher's College. Ann began teaching in the Boston Public Schools followed by 20 yrs. of teaching at St. Joseph's School, Needham. She also served as the Religious Education Coordinator for Grades 1-6 including the First Penance and First Communion programs at St. Theresa's Parish, West Roxbury. Ann was a faith-filled woman, loyal friend and loving family matriarch. She had many interests, most importantly, Notre Dame football.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. James Levine, Julia Lynch NP, Mary Jo Cosgrove RN and the oncology staff at BIDMC for their expertise and compassion throughout her illness. We are eternally grateful.
Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Friday, August 19th at 10 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church at 11:30 am. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Ann's name to the Anna Jerome Scholarship Fund, care of St. Theresa's School, 40 St. Theresa's Avenue, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
