Obituary

WORCESTER/WEST BOYLSTON

Martha Helen (Lapointe) O’Brien, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 4th at Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Martha spent 80-plus years living in Worcester and West Boylston as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, administrative professional, talented vocalist and an inspiration to all who loved her.

She leaves her four sons Kevin P. O’Brien (and wife Cheryl) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Paul F. O’Brien of Fruita, Colorado, Terrance M. O’Brien (and wife Diane) of Melbourne, Florida and Neil J. O’Brien (and wife Lori) of Groton, Massachusetts. She is survived by the loving memory of her predeceased husbands Francis J. O’Brien and Edouard Kesner, her six sisters Rolande, Therese, Carmen, Berangere, Gertrude and Jacqueline and her three brothers Dollard, Marc-Andre and Gabriel. She also leaves many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Martha was born on September 4th, 1922 in Garthby, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Joseph A. and Marie A. (Lemay) Lapointe and emigrated at a very early age with her family from Canada. She graduated from the Holy Family School, the David Hale Fanning Worcester Girls Trade School and Becker Junior College. She was a secretary at the Wright Line company in Worcester and the Worcester School Department for many years. She loved to sing and was a member of the Worcester Chorus for 25 years. She also performed a number of times in the Worcester Music Festival.

Calling hours will occur on Sunday, August 14th from 4 to 6 PM and the funeral will be held on Monday, August 15th from the
Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. There will be a Mass at 12 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. The burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Boylston Council on Aging, 127 Hartwell St., Suite 100, West Boylston, MA 01583.
