Subodh Bhaumik, age 78, of Sharon, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood. He was the beloved husband of Susweta (Datta) Bhaumik, to whom he was wed for 42 years.
Born in India on October 1, 1937, he was a loving son of the late Jyotish C. and Sailabala (Chowdhury) Bhaumik.
Subodh grew up and was educated in India. He received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in India and later received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Bhaumik had worked as a Civil Engineer for the Ralph M. Parsons Corporation in Boston for over twenty years. He had made his home in Sharon for the past 23 years and previously resided in Virginia.
Subodh’s favorite times spent where those in the presence of his adoring family. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening and socializing and playing pool with friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children Tina B. Melpignano and her husband John of Sharon and Shibaji “Tyler” Bhaumik and his wife Lindsey of Holbrook. He was the cherished grandfather of Isabella and Sophia Melpignano, and Lilyanna Bhaumik. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, August 9th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Cremation will follow at the North Purchase Crematory in Attleboro.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 8th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
