Joan A. Coolidge, 70

Joan A. (O’Buchon) Coolidge, age 70, of Norton, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her adoring family, on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Coolidge, to whom she was wed for forty years at the time of his death on April 16, 2005.

Born in Boston, MA on November 7, 1945, she was a loving daughter of the late Edmund and Mary (Hadley) O’Buchon.

Joan spent her childhood living in Readville. Her family later moved to Mansfield where she was a 1963 graduate of Mansfield High School. She had made her home in Norton for the past fifty years.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Coolidge worked in the dining services at Wheaton College in Norton. She also assisted her late husband, in various capacities, with his construction company in Norton.

Joan was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and enjoyed attending bingo and the annual Christmas Bazaars held at the church.

For many years she enjoyed ceramics, gardening, traveling, and the wonderful weekly gatherings for breakfast with her friends and former classmates.

Joan’s favorite times spent by far were those with family, especially with her grandchildren at her summer cottage in Dennisport.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Pamela D. Parker and her husband John of Norton, Patricia A. Sacco and her husband Alexander of Walpole and Kimberly J. Kelly and her husband Timothy of Chicago. She was the dear sister of William Pontin and his wife Kathy of CT, Linda Arruda and her husband Arthur of Swansea, Edmund O’Buchon and his wife Frances of Mansfield, and Karen O’Buchon of Taunton. She was the cherished grandmother of Cameron and Troy Parker, James, Benjamin and Nina Sacco, John, Liam and Moira Kelly, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, August 8th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 7thth from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
