Arthur C. O’Leary, 76

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Arthur C. O’Leary, age 76, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Copley of Stoughton.

He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Turbett) O’Leary, to whom he was wed for 43 years at the time of her death on January 7, 2011.

Born in Needham, MA on October 9, 1939, he was a loving son of the late Myril and Helen (Shea) O’Leary.

Raised in South Natick, Arthur met his future wife in Boston and lived in Dorchester until moving to Mansfield where he had made his home for the past 40 years. He worked as a foreman and truck driver for his brother’s recycling company for many years. In the Early1990’s he started his own recycling company, retiring in 2012.

Arthur’s greatest pride and joy in life was his adoring family. He especially enjoyed “gatherings of the clan”, trips to Maine to visit his grandchildren, playing cards with his in-laws and relaxing at home with his cat “Sherlock”.

He was a member of the Mansfield Lodge of Elks and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. For fun, Art enjoyed playing the lottery and socializing with friends at the Regent Cafe.

Arthur’s family would like to thank the staff at Copley of Stoughton for their care and compassion shown to him over the past few months.

He is survived by his loving and devoted children Brenna J. Vachon and her husband Robert of Mansfield, Geoffrey C. O’Leary and his wife Kristie Lee of Mansfield and Charleen J. Foley and her husband Paul of Wiscasset, Maine. He was the cherished grampie of Sarah Foley and Aidan Foley of Wiscasset, Maine. He was the dear brother of Nancy L. Topham of Natick and her late husband Thomas Topham, James G. O’Leary of Reading, Clarine R. O’Leary of Nova Scotia, and the late Alice E. O’Leary, Myril O’Leary and Jean Cohan. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and his ever-thoughtful neighbors and friends Nancy and Ed.

His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, August 5th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
