Obituary

WORCESTER-Eleanor A. (Mauke) Caffrey, 84, of Worcester went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30 in her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Her husband of 52 years, Colwyn D. Caffrey died in 2004. She leaves seven children, Colyne E. Germain of Auburn, Susan H. Scavone and her husband, Francis of Worcester, Douglas E. Caffrey and his wife, Carol of Milford, Nancy L. Brunell and her husband, David of Sturbridge, Eleanor A. Caffrey-Bianchini of Worcester, Martha M. Caffrey of Shrewsbury and John A. Caffrey of Worcester; two sisters in law, Gwyneth Bombard of Leicester and Brigitta Caffrey of Pennsylvania; a daughter in law, Kathleen Caffrey of Hampton, Bays, NY; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Four sons, James J., Stephen C., William N. and Jeffrey S., three sisters, Gertrude Larkham, Jane Kelleher and Mary Mollicone,a brother William Mauke predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Mary (McCluskey) Mauke and graduated from St. Peter’s High School.
Eleanor was the manager of the lunch program at Midland Street School, for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and attended Repairer of the Broken Bridge Church and was a supporter of the net of compassion ministry. She was a beautiful, generous and especially loving and caring woman. Dancing, food and laughter, we’re among her favorite things. She so loved God, her family and friends. Eleanor was a special woman, who made people feel beautiful and special as well. She will surely be missed, but seen again as promised.
Mr. and Mrs. Caffrey started the Flag Fund for flying the United States Flag over the Worcester Union Station, in memory of their four sons.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday, May 4, from CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling Hours are Tuesday, May 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the activity fund at, The Ark of Opportunity, 81 Newton Ave. No., Worcester, 01602.
