Noella E. (Cyr) McMullen, 95, of Block Island, Rhode Island passed away Sunday April 24, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Albert L. McMullen, a former New Bedford City Councilor.
Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Elphege and Yvonne (Letourneau) Cyr, she was raised on Block Island and lived in New Bedford for many years, before retiring to Block Island in 1981.
Mrs. McMullen was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church.
She was a member of the St. Andrew's Ladies Guild and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include four children, James A. McMullen and his wife Jane of Niceville, FL, John F. McMullen and his wife Maureen of Taunton and Niceville, Patricia A. Major of New Bedford, and Marie Y. McRae and her husband Scott of Dartmouth; a brother, Robert Cyr of Ft. Myers, FL; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Arlene Fallon, Madeleine Swienton, Ulric Cyr, and Arthur Cyr.
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday April 30, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Andrew's Church, Block Island. Burial will be in Block Island Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Church on Saturday beginning at 10:30 AM prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Block Island Rescue Squad.
