Stephen C. Oliveira, 67, of Dartmouth passed away Sunday April 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Donna (White) Oliveira. Born in New Bedford, the son of Arthur T. and Jeanette (Caron) Oliveira of New Bedford, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Mr. Oliveira was formerly employed by the New Bedford Police Department for 32 years, retiring as a Sergeant. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Red Sox, gardening, playing cards and vacationing in Aruba. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Karen Oliveira of Fairhaven and Michael Oliveira of Dartmouth; his siblings, Janice Oliveira of New Bedford, Michael Oliveira and his partner Marcus Gallardo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Arthur Oliveira and his wife Helene of Fairhaven; his granddaughter, Hayleigh; his grandson, Logan; and many nieces and nephews. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 29, 2016 at 9 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Mt. Pleasant St. in New Bedford. Burial with military honors will take place on Friday at 1:45 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are omitted.
