Callie James Smith Obituary - Water Valley MS

Callie James Smith, age 84, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born August 7, 1931 in Calhoun County, MS to the late Callie Jefferson and Dora Shepherd Smith.

James retired from Motts Industries where he worked in refrigeration maintenance, and was the owner of Smith Tires in Water Valley. He was of Baptist faith and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. James enjoyed working hard all his life, especially working in his yard and garden

Visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery with Matthew Snider, Bud Reed, Trey Huey, Artie Stewart, Tommy Pannell and Kevin Stewart serving as pallbearers. Ricky Camp, Mickey Jenkins, Billy Butts, Shane Hollister, Bubba Simmons and Randy Simmons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Dickey Smith of Water Valley, MS; his daughter, Rita Faye Lewis of Water Valley, MS; his son, Rex Smith of Water Valley, MS; his sister, Hazel Kinkennon of Pontotoc, MS; and 3 grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Justin Smith and Chris Lewis.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Ilene Collins; and three brothers, Clarence Smith, Clinton Smith and Clifton Smith.
