Obituary


Worcester – David A. O’Brian, 71, of Worcester died unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, April 23rd. Mr. O’Brian was married for 42 years to the late Carol A. (Trombly) O’Brian who died in 2007. He is survived by 2 daughters, Kelly A. O’Brian of Orlando, FL and Kathleen P. Hakenson and her husband, Brian of Worcester; a son, David A. O’Brian of Worcester; a sister, Patricia Byrnes of South Carolina; a brother, Brian Tardiff of Auburn; 4 grandchildren, Jarred, Jason, Grace and Luke and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Patrick and Marie (O’Connor) O’Brian and is also predeceased by a son, Patrick D. O’Brian who died in 2009 and sister Kathleen McCann. Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of S & T Movers in Worcester for many years until his retirement in 2009. Mr. O’Brian was currently employed as the custodian for St. Peter’s Church where he has worked for over 25 years. Dave was an active part of the St. Peter’s Church community where he could be found on a regular basis, volunteering his time to help others. He was a man of great faith and always put the needs of others ahead of his own. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 27th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 26th from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Dave may be made to St. Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Worcester, MA 01610.
