WORCESTER-Martha Mary “Penny” Gaumond, 85, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in her sleep at home.
She is survived by seven children; Leslye M. Edwards of Virginia, Dana E. McLaughlin of So. Grafton, MA, Tracy A. Raphaelson of Worcester, Gregory R. Gaumond of Worcester, Julie M. Gaumond of Virginia, Scott G. Gaumond of Virginia and Pete Gaumond with whom she lived. She also leaves seven beloved grandchildren, six beloved great grandchildren, a beloved great-great granddaughter, several nephews, nieces, cousins and her beloved dog, Rory. A brother, Daniel Gaumond predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Alphonse H. and Eunice R. (Loan) Gaumond. Penny was a graduate of Regis College and Assumption College, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work. She was a licensed Social Worker at several area nursing homes including, Armstrong, Spring Valley and Adin Manor.
In the 1950’s, Penny was a writer for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette Feature Parade. She established DASH, Divorced and Separated Helpmates in Worcester and volunteered at the Rockport Art Association in Rockport, MA.

A graveside service will be held Monday, April 25 at 11:00 AM at Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
