Obituary

WORCESTER-Robert W. “Bob” Petty, 84, of Worcester, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at home, after an illness.

He leaves his longtime companion, Mabel M. (Hoopii) Wood, and her children; Melissa Bitar and her husband Raymond, the husband of the late Lena (Wood) McIntosh, Dale McIntosh, Donna Trost and her husband Scott, Arlene Wood, Jeffrey Wood, Helena Wood, Patricia Wood, Gail Wood, Cheryl Hanna, Gary Wood and Roger Wood. He also leaves a brother, Donald G. Petty and his wife Joanne of Holden, a niece, Suzanne St.Pierre and her husband Eric; Mabel's 30 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A brother, John R. “Jack” Petty predeceased him in 1952.


He was born in Worcester, son of John H. and Florence M. (Williston) Petty and graduated from North High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. For many years, Bob was a driver and deliveryman for Town Talk Bread and in later years, he worked in the produce department at Shaw’s Market and also tended bar at Joe’s Tavern. Bob was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox fan New England Patriots.

Bob's funeral service will be held Monday, April 25th at 11:00 AM at CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. A visiting hour will also be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service in the funeral home.
