Obituary

Worcester – Joseph F. Sweeney, 65, of Worcester, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, April 12th with his loving caretakers whom he looked at as close friends by his side.

Joey was born in Worcester on October 9, 1950, the son of Joseph and Marie (Burgwinkle) Sweeney. He is survived by his housemates and friends, Gary, Richmond, John, many HMEA caretakers, many friends and a devoted guardian, Ursula Strums - Papp who ensured Joey received a quality of life that was both rich and meaningful.

Joey has lived in the same home for the past 20 years where he developed a love for those around him that was contagious and spread to all in the house. He attended Therapeutic Work Options, Seven Hills for 20 years where he had many friends and continually looked forward to attending.

Joey could be found every Tuesday night at the KasBar for a fun filled night of dancing with everyone who knew him by name. His birthday and holidays were a special time for Joey, to him, celebrating his birthday was like a national holiday. If there was a party, you could always count Joey in to be there, so he could spread his joy and happiness to all.

Joey was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found out on his back deck listening to music while he enjoyed his natural surroundings.

All are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, April 14th at 11 AM in Notre Dame Mausoleum 162 Webster St., Worcester.
