Hudson, MA

Rose M. (Ruddy) Thoman lived a life dedicated to the Catholic faith, her family, and to various Pro-Life causes. She experienced the grace of a prayerful and peaceful death surrounded by family at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester on Thursday, March 24, 2016.

The loving wife of the late Alfred J. Thoman for 56 years, Rose was born and raised in Scranton, PA. She was daughter to the late Thomas and Mary (Barrett) Ruddy and was the oldest and last surviving sibling of five sisters and two brothers. After graduating from St. John the Evangelist H.S. in Scranton, Rose attended nearby Lackawanna Business College.

Rose and her beloved Al were blessed with five children and she is survived by Mark Thoman (wife Maryann) of Texas, Joseph Thoman (fiancée Jeanne Cullinane) of Nashua, NH, Paul Thoman (wife Karen) of Nashua, NH, Eric Thoman of Manchester, NH and Marcy Thoman of Hudson, MA. She also leaves her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Rose put her pro-life convictions into action. For years, she volunteered her time at Problem Pregnancy of Worcester and Spring House in Berlin to help pregnant women in difficult situations. A founding member of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, she organized annual trips to the March for Life held in Washington D.C. and Pro-Life Retreats held at St. Benedict Abbey in Still River. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother when her boys were young and was a member of The Catholic Daughters.

As a woman who enjoyed having good food, conversation and fun with family and friends, she will be missed by many because she was loved so much.
