WEBSTER -Sara M. Heyes, 84 passed away peacefully at Lanessa Extended Care, Webster, MA on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Sara was predeceased by her parents Louis and Lillian Trudell and six of her seven brothers and sisters.
Sara leaves behind her seven children, Donna Robbins, Sue Appelt (Tim), Joan Vajcovec (Andy), Jean Powers, Donald Heyes (Sheila), Michael Heyes (Cindy), and Polly Patch (Al). Sara also leaves her ex-husband Donald F. Heyes, seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and 2 ½ great grandchildren.
As a young mother, Sara often sang to her small children and each of them continue to make music a large part of their lives. Later in life, Sara prided herself in crocheting beautiful afghans, which adorn the chairs and beds of her children, grandchildren, friends, and even complete strangers.
As her final gesture of selflessness, Sara has donated her body to the UMass Anatomical Gift Program where she can provide the department with valuable opportunities in continuing research.
Sara’s family would like to thank the staff at Lanessa Extended Care, the hospice workers at Western and Central Mass, and Dr. John Platt and his staff for the extraordinary care given to our mother before and during her illness.
At Sara’s request, a private memorial will be held at a later date. Any donations can be made to Lanessa Long Term facility in Sara’s name. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
