WEBSTER – Virginia L. (McGrotty) Persons, 77, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at home surrounded by her family after a short illness.
She leaves 4 children, Lorraine G. Tatro, Perry J. Tatro and Jennifer D. Gile, all of Dayville, CT, and Vickie E. Devish and her husband Robert of Webster; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, William McGrotty of Brunswick, Maine; a sister, Sandra Ballou of Hickory Corners, MI; her former husband, Richard Tetreault of Webster; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands Wilbur Tatro and Roger Persons, by 2 sons, Michael Tatro in 1993 and Christopher F. Tatro in 2007, by her brother James McGrotty and by her sister, Katherine Stillwell. She also leaves her beloved cat Molly.
She was born in Portage Lake, Maine, a daughter of William and Geneva (Raymond) McGrotty, and lived in Alstead, NH, Marlow, NH and Chester, VT, graduating from Chester High School in 1956. When she married, she lived in Canterbury, CT for several years before moving to Webster in 1985.
Mrs. Persons was a dresser tender at Anglo Fabrics Company. She was a home health care aide for the Samaritans. She worked at Providence House in Southbridge and most recently for Accord Adult Day Health Center, retiring in January due to illness.
She was a member of the Church of the Reconciliation and served on the altar guild for many years. She enjoyed quilting. She was devoted to her family.
The funeral will be held Saturday, April 9, at 9:00 AM in the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main Street. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main St., Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
