Obituary

LEICESTER: Esther P. (Pezzano) Mazzone, 86, of Woodland Road in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 5 after battling Dementia for over 14 years.
Her husband of 51 years, Anthony M. Mazzone, Sr. died in 2001. She leaves two daughters; Patricia Rutelonis and her husband John with whom she lived for the past 11 years and Pamela Richardson and her husband Bud of Oxford, two sons; Anthony Mazzone, Jr. and his significant other Robin Degnan of Worcester and Robert Mazzone and his significant other Luann Bousquet of Worcester, 13 grandchildren; Jason, Matthew, Joseph, Ashley, Nicholas, Joseph, Dominic, Tess, Angela, Alicia, Bobby, Isabel & Thomas, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister Gloria Lewis of Hopedale and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers Vito & Thomas Pezzano.
Mrs. Mazzone was born in Worcester, daughter of Orazio and Angelina (Martocci) Pezzano on June 1, 1929. Esther moved with her husband to the Rochdale section of Leicester in 1955, where she lived until her move to Cherry Valley in 2005. She worked at various manufacturing companies in Worcester while her children were young, and then worked at Worcester Tool and Stamping in Rochdale for over 30 years before retiring. She really enjoyed working for the Magnuson family at Worcester Tool and Stamping. They treated her like family, especially at the start of her illness. She and her husband Tony enjoyed spending many winters in Jupiter, FL. She also enjoyed bowling, ceramics, but mostly just being around all her grandchildren. That brought her the most joy. She was a longtime member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, who have sent her "thinking of you" cards from time to time. She later joined St. Joseph-St. Pius X Church. She served on the women's auxiliary of the Leicester Knights of Columbus, where she and Tony were very active. She was also a member of the Leicester Seniors Club. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Adult Day Health in Worcester, especially Lisa and Ann and the rest of the staff for their loving care and concern for her where she had attended for over 10 years. They worked hard with the family to make sure Esther's life had dignity. The family would also like to thank the staff at Elder Services and the Reliant Navicare team (Sandy & Matthew). Also much appreciation goes to the Notre Dame Hospice Team (Jillian, Denise, Etc.) and especially Kate, her nurse and Donna her CNA for all the help they provided for her and the family in the past year. We also would like to thank the drivers of the van service who transported her to & from day care, especially Mike, Vickie, Rosa, John and Artie for always treating her with kindness and compassion. Special thanks to Theresa and Betty who have become very dear to the family.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 9 from MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Alyoisius-St. Jude Church, 491 Pleasant Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 8 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
