Obituary

EAST BROOKFIELD: John W. "Jack" McDavitt, Jr., 62, of East Main Street died Friday, March 4 in his home unexpectedly.
He leaves his beloved wife of 20 years, Lisa H. (Hershey) McDavitt, his father John W. "Rabbit" McDavitt, Sr., a step-son Michael McDonald and his wife Sam of Edmonton, Canada, a brother Thomas McDavitt and his wife Cynthia of Holden, a sister Trisha Sauriol and her husband Thomas of Port Charlotte, Florida, two brother-in-laws; Joel Hershey and his wife Gloria of Springfield and Stephen Lisko of Millbury and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Maureen Dawson.
Jack was born in Worcester, son of the late Kathleen (O'Connor) McDavitt. He was a Worcester City Firefighter on Engine 10 for 15 years retiring in 2001. Prior to working at the fire department he worked for the American Red Cross for over 10 years and after retiring he was currently working at Venture Community Services. He also earned his Bachelors degree at Worcester State College after retiring and began substitute teaching at David Prouty High School. His passions in life were the New England Patriots, his wife Lisa and golf. He will be missed by all who loved him. He left a great big hole in their hearts. His wife and family wishes the best for him in his next life and hope to be part of him again someday. The family would like to thank the East Brookfield Police and Fire Departments and the EMT's.
Calling hours are Thursday, March 10 from 4:00-7:00 PM in J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Funeral services and burial will be private. A public Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Feline Friends Cat Sanctuary, P.O. Box 174, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.
