Obituary



North Oxford – Josephine M. (Arseneau) Allain, 92, formerly of North Oxford passed away on Saturday, February 27th in Saint Vincent Hospital.

Mrs. Allain is survived by her husband of 71 years, Eulysse J. Allain, with whom she had a loving and faith filled marriage; 4 sons, Jean Paul Allain and his wife, Cecile of Punta Gorda, FL, Robert Allain and his wife, Colette of Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada, Louis Allain and his wife, Fernande of Webster and Norman Allain and his wife, Mariann of Leicester; 6 daughters, Jeannita Gaudet and her husband, Emery of Leominster, Pauline Allain and her fiancée, Roger Ellis of Dennis, Louise Berube-Potter and her husband, Jack of Douglas, Sr. Annette Allain with the Little Sisters of the Assumption in East Harlem, NY, Joanne Berube and her husband, George of Douglas and Cecilia Couture-Pierce and her husband, Eric of Sutton; 1 brother, Francois Arseneau of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Josephine was the daughter of the late Theophile and Evangeline Arseneau and she was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. She is predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters, Joseph, Sylvere, Emma, Fidele, Eva Doiron, Andre and Gerard and a great grandson Marshall Potter.

Mrs. Allain was an active member at the former Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Worcester, until it’s closing in 2008. Since then she has been a member of St. Ann’s Parish in North Oxford.

Mrs. Allain enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends and truly cared about other people. Josephine enjoyed playing cards and had a contagious sense of humor, making those around her laugh. She was a woman of great faith with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and would pray the Rosary faithfully.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center for the exceptional love and care that was given to Josephine, where she resided with her husband for the past year.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 2, with a Mass at 11 AM in St. Ann’s Church 652 Main St. North Oxford. Entombment will be at a later date in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 1, from 5 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Josephine to the Little Sisters of the Assumption 475 East 115 Street, 1st Floor, New York, NY 10029.
