Obituary

Paxton - Donald A. Wickman, 85, passed away at Saint Vincent Hospital on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Judith (Raetz) Wickman; daughter, Donna Daniels and her husband Bruce of East Hampton, NY; sons, Andrew of Worcester and Kyle and his wife Leah of Holden; three grandchildren, Kyra Daniels and Kayla and Jason Wickman. He was predeceased by his brother Eric Wickman.

Donald Arne Wickman was born in the Bronx, NY on March 5, 1930, son of the late Dagny (Lutz) and Arne Wickman. He was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School and was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge from active service, Don went to Upsala College in New Jersey on the GI bill, graduating in 1956. He was a member of Theta Epsilon Fraternity. He and his family lived in Montvale, NJ for ten years where he worked at the Safeco Insurance Company. In 1973 he moved to Paxton, MA and worked as a casualty underwriter for the Hanover Insurance Company until his retirement in 1995. Don was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester where he sang in the choir for many years. He loved sports and coached Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football in Paxton. He belonged to the Paxton Tennis Club and enjoyed playing golf. Don also loved music - especially jazz and classical.
