Obituary

Auburn-Ruth Louise (Codere) Buckley, 99, passed away Monday, February 1st at Marian Manor in Boston. Ruth’s husband, Joseph Buckley passed away in 1985. Ruth leaves three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was also predeceased by her son, Richard M. Buckley in 1995, two brothers, Fred J. Codere, USMC and Edward F. Codere, USN, both killed in action in WW II and her sister, Dorothy M. Paladino.

Ruth was born in Worcester the daughter of Alfred J. and Mona (Cassidy) Codere. She graduated from Commerce High School. Ruth was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church and served on the Alter Guild for 35 years. She was also a founding member of the Thrift Shoppe at the church. Ruth was past president of the Auburn Junior Women’s League, was a member of the widow & widower’s group, and Auburn Rotary, town meeting in Auburn (member), and served at the Auburn Polling Stations and as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Ruth will be remembered fondly as a kind and generous neighbor, especially to the Carpenter family of Auburn.

A visiting hour for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd from 9:30 until 10:30 am at CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marian Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 130 Dorchester St., Boston, MA 02127.
