Obituary

SPENCER; David P. Durgin, 55, of 15 Valley St., died Friday, January 29.
David was born in Spencer on July 16, 1960 and lived here all his life. He
was a 1978 graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer. David owned and
operated Durgin's Valley Garage and Towing. Following in the footsteps of
his father, David provided the Police Department with towing and recovery
with the love of his life Joelyn by his side.
He was also employed at St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer as a mechanic.
He leaves his wife of 20 years, Joelyn E. (Kennedy) Durgin, three sons; Devon
B. Kennedy, PV2 stationed in Alaska, Dawson P. Durgin and Dalton
R. Durgin both at home, his mother Ann M. (Garant) Durgin of Spencer, two
brothers, Donnie E. Durgin and his wife Patricia of So. Orleans, Daniel G.
Durgin and his wife Catherine of Wells, ME., two sisters, Diane M. Savage
and her husband Thomas of Sturbridge, Debra A. Hevy and her husband Edward
of Charlton, his mother-in-law, Elaine Green of Brookfield,
his brother-in-laws, Eric Kennedy and his wife Sara of Kalamazoo, MI., Troy
Kennedy and his wife Heather of Bristol, RI.,his sister-in-law Lorinda Kennedy of Brookfield,and several nieces, nephews,
cousins, aunts and uncles.
David had many close friends in town especially within the local, state police and fire
departments.
David was active in the community, often seen in local parades driving one
of his antique vehicles. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of
Spencer. He was a member of the Spencer Fire Department for 17 years.
David was a very generous husband, father, son, brother and friend. He
will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services for David will be held on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Spencer, 205 Main St., Spencer.Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer.
Friends are asked to go directly to the church. There are no calling hours.
