Margaret (Ford) Murray, age 97, of Mansfield passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Providence at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of the late Martin E. Murray, Sr.
Born in Boston, MA on August 11, 1918, she was a loving daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Keaney) Ford.
Peg grew up and was educated in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston. She had made her home in Mansfield for over 15 years and was a former longtime resident of Roslindale and Mission Hill.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Murray worked as a manager at the former Chuck’s Sub Shop in Dorchester. While residing in Mansfield she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
Peggy’s family was the focal point of her life and throughout her life she graciously cared for them. She will always be remembered fondly for her amazing sense of humor and infectious laughter.
She is survived by her devoted son Martin E. Murray and his wife Eileen of Mansfield. She was the adoring grandmother of Juliane Stamos and her husband Dennis, Brian Murray and his wife Erin and David Murray. She is also survived by her cherished great grandson Connor Murray, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late James Ford, Mary Cripps-Reidy, Walter Ford, John Ford, Anne Rose and twin sister Cecelia McFadden.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 9:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Margaret’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Westside Benevolent Circle Inc., P.O. Box 506, Mansfield, MA 02048.
