Blanche T. Smith, of Augusta, GA passed away on January 16, 2016 at National Health Care of Mauldin, SC.
Blanche was born in Johnson County, GA, and raised in Augusta, GA. She was employed for 27 years at Insurance Services of Augusta, longtime supporter of the Masters Golf tournament in Augusta, GA, member of the Elks Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans Auxiliary, and the National Secretary Association.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Sherrill Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
Blanche was preceded in death by her mother; Ruth Tapley, father; Jeffrey James Tharpe, brother; James Eddie Tharpe, son; Robert Lee Hurt, and husbands; Albert Lee Hurt and Francis B. Smith.
She is survived by her son; Thomas R. Hurt (Lana) of Simpsonville, SC, grandsons; Thomas R. Hurt, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Richard Lee Hurt of Augusta, GA, granddaughters; Beverly Hurt Thornton of Easley, SC, Christy Hurt Collins of Franklin, TN, Shannon Haddock of Birmingham, AL, great grandchildren; Lee Hurt, Samuel Hurt, Christopher Collins, Zachary Collins, Joshua Collins, Leslie Hurt, Dylan Hurt, Casey Thornton, Thomas Thornton and daughter-in-law; Laminda Hurt.
