Andrea W. (Shear) Dumont, age 55, of Ashland, formerly of Framingham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Windgate of Sudbury, after a long and courageous battle against cancer.
She was the beloved wife of David M. Dumont, to whom she was wed on September 14, 1991.
Born in Brookline, MA on October 28, 1960, she was a loving daughter of the late Eli and Faye (Smith) Shear.
Andrea grew up in Framingham and was a 1978 graduate of Framingham North High School. She furthered her education, attending the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City.
Andrea had a lifelong love for fashion. She worked as a Sales Professional in the clothing industry for many years, her last place of employment being at Cache in Natick.
She loved spending time in the presence of her adoring family, especially raising her cherished son. She had made her home in Ashland for 20 years.
Andrea loved sunny days, trips to the beach, hosting parties, entertaining family and friends, and had a special way of bringing people together.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted son Dylan F. Dumont. She was the dear sister of Lloyd Shear and his longtime companion Pat D’Alelio of Ashland. She is also survived by many loving cousins, her late father Eli’s longtime companion Joanne Tamkin, Joanne’s children Michelle, Myrna and Mark, as well as Joanne’s many grandchildren.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Sunday, January 24th from 2:00-4:15 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
At the conclusion of visitation a service of remembrance will be held in the funeral home, officiated by Rabbi Elaine Pollack.
Graveside committal services will be held on Monday, January 25th at 10:30 A.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery, Spring St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Andrea’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Stephen E. and Catherine Pappas Center for Neuro-Oncology, care of Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
