Ruby Sutherland Barlow Obituary - Water Valley MS

Ruby Sutherland Barlow, age 81, of Water Valley, MS, died Friday, January 8, 2016 in Lafayette, LA. She was born June 25, 1934 in Water Valley to the late Robert Chester and Birdie Zelma Sutherland. Ruby earned her Master's in Special Education and was instrumental in the development and intervention of severe and profound special needs children in St. Charles Parish where she taught for over thirty years. She also served in the church as a volunteer and as a Sunday school teacher for most of her adult life. Ruby adored her family, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful yard.

Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Garden Funeral Home in Mobile, AL from 12:00 noon until service time. Graveside funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm at Mobile Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Lynda Powell of Satsuma, AL and Yvette Harris and her husband, Ron, of Golden, CO; her son, Warren Keith Barlow and his wife, Lisa, of Luling, LA; seven grandchildren, Jared Powell (Windy), Alyssa Harris Warren (Matt), Amber Barlow, Allyson Harris Bell (Ben), Brock Barlow, Austin Harris and Zachery Powell; one great-grandson, Jameson Powell; and numerous relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rev. James Edward Barlow; and three siblings, Russell Sutherland, Sybil Sutherland Dickey, and Toy Sutherland.
