Obituary

Frank D. Kinney, husband of Jacqueline (Shea) Kinney, died Dec 24th, 2015 after a long illness. He was 86.

Born April 20, 1929 in Paterson, New Jersey he grew up in Paterson and Little Falls. From 1950 to 1954 Mr. Kinney served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Leyte and Bennington. It was at this time he met his wife, Jacqueline (Shea) Kinney, of Worcester. In 2014 they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mr. Kinney had an 18 year career with the W.T. Grant Company, which saw the family moving often. They lived in Worcester, Peabody, Holden, Brockton and Taunton, MA as well as, Groton, Westfield, and East Hartford CT, and Glens Falls NY, Waterville ME, Newport RI.

In 1972, Mr. Kinney purchased Peter Webber Ski Shops in Waterville, ME. In 1975, the Kinney’s left Waterville for Massachusetts, where he and son Michael, purchased the Etonic Factory Store (renamed F&M Sports) in Brockton. Retiring in 1994 the Kinney’s resided in Eustis, Florida before settling in Brookfield, MA in 1996, where Mr. Kinney worked part-time at Walmart.

A devout Catholic and family man, Mr. Kinney was active in his church and civic organizations. He was instrumental in the resident’s purchase of the Nanatomqua Retirement Cooperative where he lived. During his life he enjoyed golf, cards, community service, and he enjoyed remodeling the many homes he lived in. His greatest joy in life was being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years and children Michael, Robert & Kay Kinney, Stephen Kinney & Ricky Pang, and Jacqueline (Kinney) and Michael McClung, as well as his grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Sarah, Maddie, Isla, Kennan, Declan, and Robert Wallace and his wife Jackie. He was predeceased by his mother Ethel (Kinney) Bender and step-father Francis Bender, and his brothers Francis and Robert Bender.

The funeral is Wednesday, December 30th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 29th from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
