Obituary

LEICESTER: Joan E. (Scott) Colby 87 of 1075 Main St., died Thursday, Dec. 3 at Kindred Hospital in Westborough.
She was the wife of Harry W. Colby who died in 1977. She leaves three sons; Paul S. Colby and his wife Cathy of W.Brookfield, Peter S. Colby and his wife Christine of Ansonia, Ct. and Phillip J. Colby and his wife Theresa of Petersham, two sisters; Audrey Liblien of Quincy and Janice Lamb of Auburn, 6 grandchildren and a great granddaughter, nieces and nephews.
Joan was co owner of the former Colby's Bakery in Rochdale, and later worked as a baker at Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield for many years.
Born in Oxford, she was the daughter of Louie and Jennie (Sysko) Scott and later graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School. She founded the "Crafty Grannies" at the Leicester Housing Authority. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday Dec. 5 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenville Baptist Cemetery, Pleasant St., Rochdale. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
