Yolanda F. "Lee" (Leo) Lekas, 93, of Worcester, died Tuesday, December 1st in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Christopher M. Lekas; two sons, Michael C. Lekas and his wife, Bonnie of Jacksonville, FL and John P. Lekas of Worcester; her beloved grandchildren, Keri and Kristina Lekas of Jacksonville; sisters-in-law, Ethel Demarky and Helen Panagiotou; beloved nephews and nieces, Phyllis Cutroni, Georgia Demarky-Anderson, Donna Polechronis, Garrell Mullaney, Ann Johnson, Irene MacCormick, Anthony Lazzaro and Peter Panagiotou; grand nephews and nieces and cherished friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Armand and Albert Leo and four sisters, Theresa Mullaney, Rose Morris, Amelia Sclamo and Cecelia Lazzaro.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Vincenzo and Philomena (Braica) Leo. Lee was a graduate of Commerce High and had worked alongside her husband Chris at The Avalon Hairdressers and at the White City Pizza. Mrs. Lekas was a devoted member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior's Club, the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. Yolanda enjoyed socializing, reading, tending to her plants and flowers; her main passion in life was caring for, loving and supporting her husband and sons. One who never hid her opinions, Yolanda deferred to her emotions, the strongest being her love for her family and friends. Many lifelong friends are forever touched by her warm and loyal heart.
Her funeral is Friday, December 4th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, December 3rd, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
