Kevin J. Murray, age 48, of Norton, formerly of Mansfield passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
Born in Norwood, MA on September 13, 1967, he was a loving son of Barbara A. (Chipman) Smith of Canton, the late Raymond C. Smith, and George D. Murray of Plymouth.
Kevin grew up in Mansfield and was a 1986 graduate of Mansfield High School. During the Persian Gulf War, he faithfully served his country for four years as a member of the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany and honorably discharged on April 23, 1994 with the rank of SP4.
For over ten years, he had made his home in Norton and was the proud owner of the KJM Painting Co.
Kevin was an avid fresh water fisherman, an ardent New England Patriots fan, and loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Kevin could best be described as a man with a kind heart, a loyal friend and someone you could count on when in need of help.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by loving companion Carolynn Turke and her son Mark of Norton. He was the dear brother of Kerri A. Scaramuzzo and her husband Tony of Mashpee, Lynn M. Robbins and her husband Chris of Mansfield, Anjanette Smith of Pawtucket and the late Raymond Smith. He was the devoted godfather of Lillian-Raye Scaramuzzo, the adoring uncle of Alicia, Anthony, Michael, Lilli, Al, Elliot, Carolyn, Caitlyn, Christopher, Bethani, Suzanne, Elizabeth and Shane. He is also survived by his loving grandnieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, November 30th at 11:00 A.M.in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 29th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 74 Batterson Park Road, Farmington, CT 06032.
