Obituary

Edwin L. Livramento, 93, of New Bedford died November 20, 2015 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Ramos) Livramento.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Clara (Brito) and Joaquim doLivramento, Jr., he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Livramento was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1940.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before retiring after 22 years of service.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Livramento was a member of the Greater New Bedford Veterans Council, the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Association where he served 7 terms as Post Commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 19 in Newport, RI., American Legion Moby Dick Post 459, Master Mason 32nd degree with Wamsutta Lodge A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rites Bodies, Valley of Southeastern Massachusetts, Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association and a founding member of the Cape Verdean Recognition Committee. He was a former member of the New Bedford Housing Authority.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Edwin Livramento, Jr., and Michael Livramento, both of New Bedford; 5 daughters, Sandra Grace and Betty Ann Livramento, both of New Bedford, Debra Livramento of Bowie, MD, Lisa Livramento of Silver Springs, MD, and Melody Beedles and her husband V.J. of Atlanta, GA; his daughter-in-law, Denise Livramento of Washington, DC; a sister, Irene B. Livramento of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Lawrence Livramento and the brother of the late Arthur J. Livramento, Armand Livramento, Walter J. Livramento, Estelle "Stella" doLivramento, Elsie Livramento, Mary A. Fortes, Antonio R. Brito, Elizabeth L. Duarte, Lillian L. Ramos.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 25th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, November 24th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
