Susan C. (O’Donald) Collar, age 59, of Norton, formerly of Spring Lake, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Home & Hospice Care of RI in Providence. She was the beloved wife of George R. Collar, Jr.
Born in Altoona, PA on January 28, 1956, she was a loving daughter of the late Don V. O’Donald, Sr.. and Beatrice A. (Colyer) O’Donald Mathues.
Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and was a graduate of Perkiomenville High School in Pennsylvania. She proudly served her country as an X-Ray Technician in the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of SP5.
Susan was a dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to children and God. She spent many years of her married life living in Europe and while in Germany was a former Girl Scout Leader.
Mrs. Collar was a member of the Ayer Church of God where she was devoted to children’s ministry and as a minister also to the military, as well as in Ayer, MA.
Susan also enjoyed baking, crafting, crocheting, and especially spending time with her family and devoting her life to God. She had made her home in Norton for the past 5 years and was formerly of Spring Lake, North Carolina.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted and loving children Janel L. Renna and her husband Glenn of Tennessee, George R. Collar, III of Washington State, Rebekah E. Smith and her husband Patrick of North Carolina, Rachel L. Richardson and her husband Charles of North Carolina and Elizabeth G. Collar of Norton. She was the dear sister of Kathleen Conrad and her husband Donald, Don “Butch” O’Donald and his wife Deanna, David O’Donald, Joyce Taylor and her husband Ken, Karen Wise and her husband David, Rhonda Heckman and her husband Jack, and Edward O’Donald and his wife Tina all of Pennsylvania. She was the cherished grandmother of Jacquelyn, Geoffrey, Nicholas and Joshua Renna and Eva and Brendan Smith. She is also survived by her former daughter in law Elena Vyalkin of Minnesota.
Her memorial service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, November 24th at 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
