Don R. Howard, 92, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015, at the Beaumont Nursing Center in Northborough. He was a former resident of Worcester. He was the beloved husband of 67 years of Phyllis A. (French) Howard; devoted father to 2 daughters and a son: Donna R. and her husband Robert Davidson of Raymond, NH, Kenneth W. and his wife Monique Stelling of Sudbury, and Paula L. and her husband Craig Caruso of Shrewsbury; and loving grandfather of Natalie and Gregory Howard. He was predeceased by his brother, Carroll and 3 sisters, Freda Nauman, Evelyn McClelland and Marlene Goff.
Don was born in Chesterville, Ohio, son of Cora (Brown) and Walden Howard. While serving in the Army, he met Phyllis and settled in Worcester. He received a mechanical engineering degree from Worcester Junior College and pursued a career as a tooling engineer for several companies before retiring from Parker Mfg. in 1988. Don was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church since 1959, and a member of Montacute Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
A memorial service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 64 Salisbury St., Worcester on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 2:00 pm. Burial service will be private at the request of the family. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
